Bus Fever is a parking lot sorting and management career simulation game. The player works daily as a parking lot manager for a large business that sees a lot of traffic from people who use public transportation. They must correct a jam of motor vehicles in the parking lot to quickly reduce the number of waiting passengers in a queue area.
Although the title only mentions buses, the game has cars and vans as well. Each type of vehicle holds a specific number of passengers. Cars can only hold four at a time, vans can hold six, and buses can handle 10 passengers.
The player must select unblocked vehicles that color-match passengers at the front of the line. A selected vehicle moves to one of several parking spaces near the queue area. The passengers automatically board it. The total number of waiting passengers shown on a nearby sign decreases with each transfer.
If a car, van or bus fills with passengers, it drives them away. The player then continues to select unblocked color-matched vehicles. If necessary, they can open up two additional spaces in this area by viewing advertisement videos.
Bus Fever rewards the player with coins in the upper-left corner. The player uses their money to pay for access to two tools below the lot. They use the first button to rearrange vehicles by color and the second one to auto-sort the passengers by color.
